Hello, in today’s edition of breaking the myth I will talk about some clever tricks by a few brands in the name of safety and superiority in Keratin Treatment.
Keratin treatment was originally introduced as Brazilian Blowout, where high quantity of Formaldehyde was being used. Lots of very popular global brands in keratin business were using high quantity of Formaldehyde in their Keratin Treatment. It continued for years and later considering health risks posed by formaldehyde, this treatment was banned worldwide.
So, the trick comes……
When Formaldehyde is reacted with water, it converts into a new molecule called METHYENE GLYCOL. So, when Methylene Glycol is heated and water evaporates, it again converts into formaldehyde. So, these so called Global brands in Keratin business started using METHYLENE GLYCOL in lieu of Formaldehyde.
It definitely makes your hair silky smooth. But, once done, you eventually live with formaldehyde for months.
Original Keratin Treatment is primarily about amino acids and that too largely with Cysteine, a natural amino acid found in our body. It gives you a little less dramatic results than formaldehyde but it is100% safe and natural.
Remember, Formaldehyde is banned but Methylene Glycol is NOT.
So, next time when you go for Keratin Treatment in that plush salon for those global brands in keratin, just ask a question to yourself.. what are you paying for…KERATIN or METHYLENE GLYCOL?
